Dear Ma-
Recruiting officers came around yesterday and I am honorably discharged for being under age. We expect to be relieved inside three weeks and hope to be sailing for home inside of six weeks.

Dear Betty-
Will be home soon as I said on Mother's card. I am sorry in a way for I think I ought to stay and do something. However will you ask Ma to make inquiries first as to whether I can do anything in the states and then about going back to college. I don't want to waste time when I get home. Personally I would just as leave take a year out of college for war work. Read this to Ma.
